Map from - The Berlin Raids By Martin Middlebrook
The crew never got wind of this Ju88 struggling to climb up and attack!
This BLOG supports my squad level tactical combat system known as F&M - and more recently my solo game for B-17 and B-24 raids.

HAMBURG TEST OP
I flew a quick mission to Hamburg using the moon phase and date of 18th March 1944. It was eventful to say the least.
A Bf110 engaged but was driven off damaged - TG becoming a HERO.
Following this the Navigator kept failing his Navigation dr and the a/c wasted a lot of fuel in zone 6.
They managed to bomb on target but after turning a Ju88 got them and badly shot up the pilots compartment - Engineer KIA and Pilot wounded. They both became HEROES though the ENGINEER died almost immediately.
They shook off the Ju88 though with the pilot rising to a 10ML hero.
I should have descended as the heat was out in the pilots compartment but did not and the pilot succumbed to hypothermia!
After a grueling but uneventful flight over the North Sea fuel ran out before reaching base and the TG had to land the plane on an emergency field. He wrote the a/c off and some crew were killed, but 3 survived the mission. Again - should have had the crew bail out and let the a/c crash into the sea.
WHITE SEARCHLIGHTS
I changed the searchlights to white and made them stay under the a/c counters. Here another Lancaster - not our 'star' has been 'coned'.
