This Spitfire XIV was unlucky and fell victim to the Me262s 4 x 30mm guns at very close range. It was lucky to escape 'only damaged'.
I'm doubtful my game will be any fun in 1944-5 since the Luftwaffe is but a shadow of its 1943 self by then and 90% of missions would meet zero opposition except for Flak. But I wanted to see how the jets and rocket a/c fitted in and if I do run on to mid 1944 I will need the Spitfire XIV.
In this enlarged and cropped screenshot you can see I cheated and made a mirror image of the Spitfire banking - the backwards letters give it away. At normal levels of zoom during play it is not an issue.
